SYNOPSIS:
Jessica Shepard's father was a brutal serial killer. Now a newly promoted police inspector she's on the trail of a serial killer of her own. She becomes concerned when a number of people she has recently had relationships with begin to fall victim to this killer. The investigation becomes more and more twisted as events unfold - not to mention the fact that Jessica (Ashley Judd) cannot remember her movements for the duration of each murder. People around her begin to act strangely as more suspicion and uncertainty clouds the case.
Jessica soon finds herself smack bang in the middle her own investigation with respected; veteran police commissioner (Samuel L. Jackson) taking her off the assignment and her own lover (Andy Garcia) beginning to doubt her. With all the distrust Jessica herself begins to question whether it's possible that she could be unknowingly following in her father's gruesome footsteps.
